Coach
John Ries
I started coaching
in 1961 with my father-in-law in his backyard pool. When the team grew and became
too large, we moved to a facility in Claremont and formed the Claremont
Crocodiles. In 1972,
the team moved to Chaffey High School and became Chaffey Aquatics.
In 1990, I took my current position as Head Coach and Aquatics
Manager at the Claremont Club.
The club currently has over 150 swimmers ranging from the
C level to senior national.
I enjoy coaching all levels of swimmers and seeing the progress
each athlete makes throughout their swimming career. I look forward to the continued
growth and success of the TCC Swim Team for many years to come.

It is always
exciting and fun to help swimmers in their development as both swimmers
and as young people. Every day brings a new challenge as their coach
along with lots of smiles.

My swimming
background started at age 5 and continued for 15 years. I
grew up in a "swimming family" as all 4 of my siblings were also
competitive swimmers. Needless to say, I love the sport.
The opportunity to join the coaching staff at TCC has
been a blessing in my life and I truly enjoy working with the kids.
I am currently coaching the beginning group at 4:00 each afternoon,
and am also helping out with the 5:00 intermediate group.
I am a firm believer that athletes gain much more from this sport
than what they learn in the water. They gain social skills,
time management skills, discipline, sportsmanship, and most importantly,
self esteem. Above all else, it's fun! I look forward
to seeing you all on the deck.
