ATTENTION PARENTS AND SWIMMERS

Posted Feb. 4, 2007: Effective January 2007, Southern California Swimming has elected to use the time standard designations Blue, Red, and White. This change was due to past confusion between SCS time standards and USA Swimming time standards. The new BLUE designation is the old "A" standard, the new RED is the old "B" standard, and the new WHITE is the old "C" standard.

There is also a change in the "AA" meet names - the new June Invite is the old summer "AA" championship meet and the new December Invite is the old winter "AA" championship meet.

For a complete list of the new time standards, please consult the SCS website (socalswim.org) or the 2007 SCS Swimming Guide.

KFC NIGHT LOTS OF FUN

We would like to thank Jennifer De Haas, Kyle De Haas, Janice Whittington, Duane Whittington, Patrick Altree, and Jon Strash for helping out at the TCC KFC Night in Ventura. It was lots of fun and "finger lickin' good."

SOMETIMES IT’S JUST ABOUT THE RACING...

Out of 46 swims at the 2010 Swim Meet of Champions, held in Mission Viejo, TCC swimmers moved up in placing 33 times. “Sometimes, we focus on times too much. We actually had a really good meet if you look at how our swimmers moved up in place,” stated Head Coach John Ries. One of those major upgrades in place (originally seeded 24th) was Sonia Wang’s 400 I.M. Sonia experienced her first “ready room” when she qualified in the top 8 in the 400 I.M. Her time of 5:00.29 was a Summer Long Course Junior National time. Sonia also finished 14th in the 200 butterfly, 14th in the 200 back, 14th in the 200 I.M., 22nd in the 100 back and 12th in the 200 I.M.

Others placing in finals were:
Jacob Altree, 19th in the 100 breast
Jason Haney, 21st in the 100 back, 14th in the 200 I.M.
Michael Haney, 23rd in the 200 free
Oriana Wang, 24th in the 100 free, 15th in the 100 fly

Others moving up were:
Kyle Coan from 63 to 40 in the 200 back
Rebecca Coan from 81 to 64 in the 400 I.M.
Dylan Gabel from 50 to 39 in the 100 back
Monique Haney from 93 to 52 in the 100 fly
Kate Santilena from 63 to 32 in the 100 fly
Dylan Tarazona from 48 to 34 in the 200 fly

“It was a good mid-season meet for all. I am looking forward to a fast summer,” said Coach John.

Congratulations to everyone!!

TARAZONA TRAVELS TO SPAIN ON NATIONAL YOUTH TEAM

“It was an amazing meet,” said Coach/Mom Jennifer Tarazona. “To see all the international flags from around the world – Russia, Australia, Poland, Cuba, Japan, China, etc... – was amazing and the competition was incredible. What an experience for a TCC swimmer to have.”

In the morning prelims, Noelle Tarazona finished 10th overall in the 200 meter butterfly (2:14.2) and five minutes later placed first in her 200 I.M. heat. Later to the chants “GO USA” “GO NOELLE,” she finished in 14th place in the 200 butterfly finals.
