Grand prize winner and still King of the Fall Fundraiser – Dylan Tarazona!
Thanks to all who helped set-up and cook-- we couldn’t do it without you!!
John, Tressa, Jennifer, Josh, & Jessica
| 3rd place team overall, 10 different swimmers win titles and a 16-year-old SCS record broken – WOW, what a great Junior Olympics!! Congrats to everyone who participated at the 2005 Summer J.O. meet held at Mission Viejo. TCC placed 2nd in the women’s division, 5th in the men’s and 3rd place in the overall team standings. Almost everyone contributed points, it seemed like every swim was a lifetime best, and we had 10 different swimmers crowned as J.O. champions:
If that wasn’t enough, 8-year-old Sonia Wang broke a 16-year-old Southern California Swimming record in the 8 & under 50 meter backstroke. Sonia finished 2nd in the event, behind older sister, Oriana in an exciting swim the last night of individual competition. We are very proud of both girls. Others that scored Top 16 points were:
| We also had winning relays from the 10 & Under Girls (they won both the free and medley) and second place relays from the 11 & 12 Girls (400 medley), the 15 & Up Girls (800 free) and the 15 & Up Boys (800 free). Contributing to other Top 16 relays were:
Congrats to John Ferrell, Sofia Bianchessi, Joy Gao, Monique Haney, Robert McKinley and Nina Sa-Nguansap who also competed and did TCC proud. We hope everyone had as SUPER a TIME as the coaches. GREAT JOB to all that swam!!! |
Facing
the “best in the west,” high altitude and the threats
of thunderstorms, TCC
swimmers proved Mother Nature couldn’t keep them down at the
2005 Western Zone
Competition held in Kearns, Utah. This competition was the first for
all seven racing at high altitude (4,300 ft.), and they were up to
the task.
Oriana Wang, 10, won 4 individual titles in the 50 and 100 fly, the 100 and 200 free. She was also 2nd in the 100 back and 200 I.M.
Sam Shellem, 13, was crowned champion in the 200 free in a 2:10.60 and was 3rd in the 100 (1:01.18) and 400 frees.
David Chen, 16, won the 100 butterfly (59.62) and finished as runner-up in the 200 fly with a 2:12.90.
Winner Sa-Nguansap, 16, placed first in the 200 fly with a 2:11.17 while finishing second in both the 200 and 400 I.M.
Jack Wiese, 18, won the 200 fly in a 2:12.92 and earned second in both the 100 fly and 100 back.
Noelle Tarazona, 12, was an impressive 3rd in the 200 I.M. and 5th in the 100 butterfly.
New Sa-Nguansap, 12, finished with a super 3rd in the 100 breast and 10th in the 50 breast.
It was a great learning experience for all these fast youngsters and we congratulate them all on a super meet!!

A HUGE thank you to all who worked the TCC "Last Ditch" Meet this past weekend. As usual, we continue to host the best meet in the section and it is due to the hard work of all of you. Our next meet isn't until April 2006 so rest up and enjoy.
We hope everyone that attended the luau had a great time. We had a wonderful dinner and it is obvious that we have some talented dancers as well as swimmers. Our summer break begins August 15th and we return on September 6th. We wish all of you a fun-filled break - take the time to REST and RELAX!!

We are happy to announce that seven members of our TCC Swim Team have been selected to the 2005 Southern California Western Zone Team:
Their selection is based on times compiled from April through June of this long course season. Southern California then selects the strongest and fastest in each age group based on those times.
Our seven TCC swimmers will compete the second week in August (August 9-13) against 16 other all-star teams, which includes teams from Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho and Northern California. They will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah where they will compete in their respective age groups against some of the finest swimmers this side of the Mississippi. Congratulations to all of you and swim fast in Utah!!!

Coach John and four TCC swimmers attended the 2004 U.S. Open in San Antonio, Texas, the first weekend in December. Roxanne Garcera, Alexis Mann, and Natalie Nichols experienced competition on a "plane" for the first time, while Nicole Shipman competed at her second U.S. Open. All four girls had good swims with several best time efforts. Roxanne swam both the 100 and 200 butterfly while Alexis Mann had her lifetime best in the 50 free (27.58). Natalie swam the 800 free and time trialed the 400 free (life time best, 4:27.67)). Nicole placed in the Top 24 in the 100 back (life time best 1:06.82) and time trialed the 200 back.
Congratulations girls on a successful meet.
Dear TCC swim families,
Once again, we hosted a great meet this last weekend. Everything went smoothly, thanks to the team of families who donated their weekends to helping out. We were impressed by the turn-out of workers. There were many extra people willing to pitch in whenever and wherever needed and many who worked much more than the minimum hours. This makes a tremendous difference in how successfully and smoothly things run for our kids.
Let’s look forward to our next meet in July. Volunteer sign ups will begin around the first week of June in the swim office.
Thanks to everyone!
The TCC Coaches

January 2, 2004: New 2004 Swim Times
Please note that the
2004 Junior Olympic swim times have been changed for both short and long
course. Most of the times are faster and are not able to be used for both
seasons (times are not able to be crossed over from short to long course).
Reason: Southern California is trying to make the J.O. meets more competitive
and shorter in length of time.
The 2004 Senior National
times have also been changed. Most of the time changes are much slower.
Reason: U.S. Swimming is trying to give the Junior National level swimmers,
who would probably not make the old standards, an opportunity to compete
at a higher level.
